In preparation for language domains, Wikisource users reached the following consensus about links between projects and languages. The problem: Can this be implemented, and if not then what needs to be changed? The consensus: 1. Languages: Links between languages should work the same way they do in the other multilingual projects (Wikipedia, Wikibooks, Wikiquote, Wiktionary, Wikinews). However, there must be one extra element in Wikisource that doesn't exist in the other projects, namely a special neutral link to the original wiki here at wikisource.org. For instance, while "fr:" links to French and "de:" to German, we would also need another code (e.g. "xx:" or "s:" [see below]) to link to the main wikisource.org instead of a regular language prefix. Note: These language links do not currently work at Hebrew Wikisource, but instead point to Wikipedias. 2. Links between projects: As in other projects, there should be a simple code to use for linking between Wikisource in a specific language such as French to all the other projects in French (e.g. "w:" for Wikipedia or "n:" for Wikinews). The strong preference at Wikisource is to simply use the single letter "s:" (as in "source", similar to "b:" for wikibooks and "q:" for Wikiquote). Project links ("w:", "b:", etc.) will need to point to projects in the same language, but this does not currently work at Hebrew Wikisource. 3. "Hard" links: The current hard links are "wikisource:" for Wikisource and "hewikisource:" for Hebrew Wikisource. The Wikisource community would prefer simply "s:" for Wikisource and "hes:", "ens:", "des:", etc. for the language editions. isn't that fixed now?
More common is s:en, s:nl etc. and as far as I've seen this works well.
Yeah, I don't think this is a problem anymore. It was initially proposed be we had no way to get to the Multi-lingual WS, but using oldwikisource:foo, DOES get us there. This bug is outdated.
(In reply to comment #4) > ... This bug is outdated. Hallo! Changed url to permanent link. a) Please do not change the resolution to WORKSFORME or FIXED without providing details how this works / what is implemented. b) Please let us all know if there is a way to make interwiki links to http://wikisource.org/ from the xx.wikisource.org projects or not. I would prefer prefixes as www: or home: c) bug 4322: provide interwiki link to http://wikisource.org/ is not coved by the summary of this bug. It might be that the answer to b) is the same as in bug 4322 . Thanks in advance! best regards reinhardt user:gangleri P.S. This is speculative: I think that the interwiki "hewikisource" was used because of some bugs related to interwiki links trough the en.wikipedia.org gateway: bug 65: Links mixing latin1 literal characters and entities produce bad UTF-8 bug 2303: interwiki links to wikimedia foundation wiki's fail if they contain UTF-8 characters etc. The lasts known to me was RTL specific: bug 2342: w:he:(aleph) is a valid interwiki link at en: but not at other wiki's
(In reply to comment #0) > These language links do not currently work at Hebrew > Wikisource, but instead point to Wikipedias. Please use underscores instead of "space"'s. The wrap around feature of MediaZilla brakes the wikifikation. Please do not use pipes in MediaZilla: Examples: use hewikisource: not Hebrew_Wikisource (In reply to comment #4) > ... but using oldwikisource:foo ... Please use MediaZilla's wikifikation: oldwikisource:foo. The comments are easier to read and such links can be verified here directly without going to the project. (In reply to comment #5) > c) bug 4322: provide interwiki link to http://wikisource.org/ Is fixed now. The interwiki link is oldwikisource:. Thanks all! I think that the "Status" of this bug changed to FIXED if the interwiki links at wikisource:he: (hewikisource: work as all others .
