Created attachment 8001 [details] Signature after restoring values Steps to reproduce: 1. Logged in to MediaWiki. 2. Click on the 'My preferences' link. 3. Click on the 'User profile'. 4. Add a new signature. 5. Open a wiki page in the editor mode. 6. Click on the 'Signature' link. 7. Click on the 'Save page' button. 8. Observe the name appears. 9. Click on the 'My preferences' link. 10. Click on the 'Restore all default settings' button. 11. Refresh the page saved on the step # 7. 12. Compare the name appears. Actual results: Previous name displayed on the page. Expected result: Old name should be display.
What do you mean with "previous name" and "old name" ? Your screenshot looks fine ?. You changed the signature setting, wrote ~~~~, and it appeared. You reset the signature, wrotte ~~~~, and the default appeared. Where is the issue ? Please pay attention when you click "Edit" during your second attempt. It no longer says "~~~~" it has been expanded to what you put in your preferences. It cant change. What you can do is put in your user preference. Then create User:TestN/signature2 with . And create User:TestN/signature with whatever you want your signature to be. That way ~~~ doesn't put "User:TestN" on the page but a template (). And as you may know, templates can be centrally changed. if you want signatures to be dynamic. You will have to use an extension such as LQT[0] -- Krinkle [0] http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:LiquidThreads
