Description Andrè van de Optje 2010-12-27 10:24:16 UTC

Comment 1 Andrè van de Optje 2010-12-27 10:27:05 UTC
I can see currently 22 Jimbo ads on de-wp on some pages. Clicking on the 'x' will not close the banners. The article text overlays the ads.
Comment 2 Frank Brall 2010-12-27 11:15:39 UTC
Are those ads only on a defined page? I can't reproduce the error.
Comment 3 James Alexander 2010-12-27 17:12:46 UTC
It would be great to get some data on this. I can't replicate it so far but that is obviously not what we want.

What kind of browser and operating system are you using?
Is it possible to get a screenshot of it?
Are all the banners clickable?
What country are you currently in? (Feel free to email me if you'd prefer to answer that privately but it helps track down the specific banner)
Comment 4 Andrè van de Optje 2010-12-27 20:29:10 UTC
OS: Mac OSX 10.6.4
Browser: FF 3.6.13
Country: NL
All Jimbos clickable.
I'll try to make a screenshot when the error comes again.
Comment 5 Niklas Laxström 2010-12-27 20:31:17 UTC
There's one screenshot with four Jimbos on the preprocessor backtrace bug.
Comment 6 Andrè van de Optje 2010-12-27 21:18:49 UTC
It looks exactly like in bug 26429, only with 22 banners: http://bug-attachment.wikimedia.org/attachment.cgi?id=7930
Comment 7 Ariel T. Glenn 2010-12-27 21:29:28 UTC
The next time you see the error (I assume you are logged in?) please view page source and look at the very bottom just before the </html> tag, you should see something like

<!-- Served by srv283 in 0.429 secs. -->

Could you see if the server name is the same for a few occurrences? If so please list it here. Thanks.
Comment 8 James Alexander 2010-12-27 21:31:41 UTC
Thanks for the info Andre. I'm unassigning myself since this looks to be beyond my expertise/area. I should note though that you actually shouldn't get the banners at all anymore in NL unless you log out. wmNL asked me to switch them to just anonymous earlier today.
Comment 9 Ariel T. Glenn 2010-12-27 21:33:47 UTC
dang it! I wish we could switch that back just long enough to catch this... drat :-D (assuming that is, that the cause is some corrupted apc on a particular server.)
Comment 10 Philippe Beaudette 2010-12-27 21:35:28 UTC
Ariel, if we need to for troubleshooting, I'm happy to ask WM-nl. I don't know what they'll say, but it doen't hurt to ask.

No, I wasn't logged in.
Comment 12 Ariel T. Glenn 2010-12-27 22:18:40 UTC
Next time you get this error, please let us know the url.
Comment 13 Frank Brall 2011-01-01 18:24:31 UTC
I also got the error with 5 Jimbos today at srv208. I couldn't made a screenshot, because it was on an iPad.
Comment 14 X! 2011-01-01 18:26:41 UTC
(just FYI, a screenshot on the iPad/iPhone can be done by pressing both the home button and the sleep button simultaneously)
Comment 15 Mark A. Hershberger 2011-01-29 00:25:51 UTC
If anyone is still seeing Jimbos, then we probably have a bigger problem. Closing for now.
