Created attachment 7847 [details] Language limitations There might be languages which express the meaning from less than 5 Characters. Steps to reproduce: 1.) Load the application <<http://commons.prototype.wikimedia.org/uwd/Special:UploadWizard>> 2.) Click on Logged in link 3.) Enter username and Password 4.) Upload a file 5.) Navigates to ‘Describe’ section Expected results: Character limitation has to be considered with respect to the different languages. Actual Results: If the character length is less than five, application will throw a user notification ‘This field is too short. Make it longer than 5 characters.’ Note: Please refer the screen attached.

Calcey, would you like us to make this a config option like bug 33513? That might be simple enough, but I don't think there exists a way to do this with MW's i18n support. Thoughts? Other suggestions?
Turns out, 'minDescriptionLength' is already a config option, so if anyone wants to properly support languages that might be affected by this, it would be good to set that option to 1. If this should be implemented on Commons, someone could open a bug, but this is the wrong place for it.
