SEW logo

Please replace the current logo with http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/1/1b/Wikipedia-logo-v2-simple.png (the new Simple logo)

Erm, there is no discussion at all for this change on simple, thus, there's no consensus for this change.

I'd suggest to close this and reopen it if needed later, but clearly not now.

Closed no consensu.

Why is consensus needed? We didn't ask for consensus before putting the v2.0 logos on other Wikipedias.

You've said before that the logo *needs* to be "Wikipedia" / "The Free Encyclopedia" (in the language) and nothing else, which is what this logo says. I'm not sure why consensus is needed for this case specifically.
Comment 4 Krinkle 2010-10-28 22:00:15 UTC
It was changed on a lot of other wikis aswell with no discussion or notification.
Though I can see the differrence in this particular case because aside from the Wiki puzzle-globe the text differs aswell.
Comment 5 Barras 2010-10-29 11:43:39 UTC
It's really simple: You want something changed which affects the whole wiki and the requester of this change isn't even a really active member of the local community. The new logo looks differently to the old one and thus people need to agree with the change. It is possible that the local community wants to stick with the old one.

My point is that the other wiki communities didn't have a chance to opt-out of this change, so why should Simple? There are very specific guidelines now for the logo, and the logo Mono proposed is the only way to follow them.
Comment 7 Monomium 2010-10-29 23:09:34 UTC
enwp hates the new logo, but is still stuck with it, and it makes the project look like a backburner project, especially when we didn't make the logo look all ugly.

There was never consensus to implement Usability, but it was done anyway, just like PC.

We are not other projects, we are the simple English Wikipedia. If you want to change something that affects the simple English Wikipedia, then ask the community. It's really simple.

Another point is, that the proposed logo has not the exact same text as the current one.

Won't fix. Please have your arguments off bugzilla.

(Js won't work on cellphone, can someone mark this resolved)
Comment 10 Barras 2010-10-30 18:40:09 UTC
Marked as resolved and wontfix upon Cary's request.

Thanks,

I'm sorry, this was my error, and I take full responsibility for the confusion.

I was under the impression that the logo had been updated. The current logo for Simple Wikipedia is entirely out of the visual identity guidelines and should be updated as soon as possible. None of the projects have an option to "opt out" of the 2.0 logo, only to custom design it in accordance with the visual identity guidelines.

If I read your comment correctly, we should still have a discussion on the thread we were first notified to reach an agreement before we make a change.
Comment 13 Monomium 2010-10-31 01:12:49 UTC
There is nothing to discuss.

It makes no difference what anyone thinks, as the foundation doesn't care.

This is to be implemented, whether we like it or not.
Comment 14 wio-oiw 2010-10-31 01:19:59 UTC
All I am saying is fix whatever we think needs to be fixed before it is implemented. Discussions were made on En.wiki on how to improve the image after it was implemented. Why not try to improve it now before implementing it. That way, we would have just 1 discussion with everyone on simple before implementing instead of 4 or 5 arguing about it after. In the end, less conflicts and a better solution for us all.
Comment 15 Antoine "hashar" Musso (WMF) 2011-01-14 15:14:14 UTC
simple wikipedia use the standard logo location (Wiki.png).

So it is all about uploading the new version to http://simple.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Wiki.png

Removed shell keyword since this does not need sysadmin.
Closing bug since it can be fixed by the users.
