Description Nepaboy 2010-09-26 17:16:53 UTC
Please add a Devanagari transliteration tool into bhojpuri wikipedia that we can swith to write in devanagari or roman.
Comment 1 Roan Kattouw 2010-09-27 08:48:00 UTC
These transliteration tools are typically done in site JavaScript. Is there another Wikimedia wiki that already has a Devanagari transliteration tool? If so, you (or someone) could copy that to your wiki.

Unassigning default assignments. http://article.gmane.org/gmane.science.linguistics.wikipedia.technical/54734
Comment 3 Santhosh Thottingal 2011-09-09 05:29:31 UTC
If we can get the rule set for the Roman to Devanagari phonetic transliteration(the rules used for the javascript tool), we can add to the Narayam extension (http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:Narayam) and consider enabling it.
Comment 4 Siebrand Mazeland 2012-08-13 07:25:42 UTC
We really need community help on this. We cannot find out if a currently existing key mapping works for you and we cannot create a transliteration mapping without your help.
Comment 5 Amir E. Aharoni 2012-08-13 07:31:54 UTC
Narayam already supports this language (as bho, but adding bh is a matter of minutes). It was already tested in the hackathon in Pune. It only has to be enabled.

The community needs a local administrator that will disable the old tool and do the necessary work to integrate the new tool. The only administrator in this Wikipedia made the last edit in 2010, so it probably needs a new administrator. The Punjabi Wikipedia went through this recently.
Comment 6 Anshuman Gupta 2013-03-30 07:36:25 UTC
Narayam was tested to support this language (as mentioned by Amir). So it is a confirmation from my side that it should be enabled.

Targeting this for the next i18n deployment window 2013-04-09.

That should just make it to close this bug in less than three years ;)

Enabled and tested, local hack removed. https://bh.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=MediaWiki:Common.js&diff=109810&oldid=94661
Not enabled by default, from what I can see.
