The link to the Email-function in the left toolbar has no returnto-parameter, so when you followed the link it always sends you "back" to the Main Page. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:EmailUser?returnto=Somewhere would be working. I hope I chose the right MediaWiki Component for this bug.

Pablo, thank you for the patch. I'm removing the need-review and patch keywords since the MediaWiki codebase has changed so much since you submitted the patch that the patch no longer applies cleanly to Subversion trunk. If you're still interested in this issue, maybe you could come into the #mediawiki IRC channel and discuss the situation and possible approaches before revising your patch and reattaching it. Thanks! I've tested this by sending a message to a user on mediawiki.org. I was returned to their user page and not to the main page. Closing as WORKSFORME. Bergi: If you test this and find that it is still an issue, feel free to reopen this report and tell us in which wiki this still occurs. Thanks!
Same here - valeriej was kind enough to explain the steps to me which weren't obvious to me (need to be on a User: page). 1. Go to https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/User:AKlapper_%28WMF%29 2. Click "Email this user" 3. Send message to user. 4. Get redirected to https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Special:EmailUser which says: Email sent Your email message has been sent. Return to User:AKlapper (WMF).
