Description 0151639 2010-09-03 11:20:25 UTC
I recently opened a Wikipedia page and got a message regarding the reverting of an edit that was made by me(my current ip address was specified). I have neither seen, nor made any changes to the specified article(message included below). The following information may be useful:
-I got the message on the same date that I have submitted this.
-The IP range(117.204.*.*) belongs to my ISP (name:BSNL, Location:India)
-Perhaps there is a solution to this? Just a suggestion.

THE MESSAGE:
July 2010

Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute to Wikipedia, at least one of your recent edits, such as the one you made to [Rotary encoder], did not appear to be constructive and has been reverted or removed. Please use the sandbox for any test edits you would like to make, and read the welcome page to learn more about contributing constructively to this encyclopedia. This particular incident was located with the assistance of STiki. Thank you! -- ((username)) (talk) 16:41, 21 July 2010 (UTC)

You can open an account. This way your edits will be attributed to your username instead of to your ip, and only messages really directed to you will be received.

For users which don't have an account their ip is our only way to "identify" them or address them messages (despite false positives like this).

Note You need to log in before you can comment on or make changes to this bug.
