Hallo! Using language interfaces other then English at a wiki with another content language will generate a lot of "red links" because either pages are refered to a local wiki or the references to special, project help pages are using the translated names of the namespaces (speziel / speciala, , hilfe / help etc.) instead of the generic ones (special, project, help etc.). This might be just an issue of the translators of the interface or could be done (80%) automatically *retranslating* to generic names of the interfaces. Both informations are available at the wiki. addition to comment 0 Having a table about bug 2453 "Special:Allmessages should provide information about the type of the MediaWiki message" eaven if this table is available temporarily at meta: there would be easy to correct the part of the releted messages using wikitext: example for de: a) replace "Spezial:foo" with "Special:foo", "Hilfe:foo" with "Help:foo" at (german) MediaWiki:Anontalkpagetext "... Wenn Sie ein anonymer Benutzer sind und denken, dass irrelevante Kommentare an Sie gerichtet wurden, melden Sie sich bitte an, um zukünftige Verwirrung zu vermeiden. " b) replace "{{localurle:Spezial:bar}" with "{{localurle:Special:Watchlist}" etc. some versions of (german) MediaWiki:Mailnologintext using (X)HTML "Sie müssen <a href="">angemeldet sein</a> und eine gültige E-Mail-Adresse haben, um anderen Benutzern E-Mail zu schicken." Note: A *general* replacement does not make sense. I suppose that (german) MediaWiki:Nstab-special "Spezial" should not be replaced. Note: I noticed at Nuka-Wiki that in some MediaWiki messages (I have to investigate at which) generic names of the namespaces are *translated* anyway. If you use there the word "Help" as simple text directly or trough some (nested) templates it gets translated to "". This might be a bug or can be used as feature. As I said this is *not* valid at all Special pages or MediaWiki:Sitenotice. Regards Reinhardt user:gangleri
They do use generic namespaces. Please file specific, targetted bugs for any you find that aren't set correctly.
changed summary to LanguageXx.php should not use localized namespaces in links translations it should use only generic namespaces refered to this bug at bug 4256: options disappear in id.wikipedia recentchanges page
removed url as BetaWiki is mostly behind a firewall
