First, here is my config : G4 1Ghz, 576Mo RAM MySQL ver. 4.0.16-max PHP ver. 4.3.10 Apache ver. 1.3.33 Using FireFox as main browser, safari & ie for tests purpose. I did follow the installation steps, till the file "LocalSettings.php" is successfuly created in the config folder, via the URL "http://localhost/wiki/config/index.php". Then I move it the the parent folder, delete the config folder, and go to the following URL : "http://localhost/wiki/index.php" But the page begin to load and remain blank until it times out after 30 sec (browser settings). I have read about ALL the documentation I found about that kind of bug, and I found that this URL : "http://localhost/wiki/index.php?title=Main_Page" is leading to the wiki page. So, my question is : how do I make users go to the main wiki page with this URL : "http://localhost/wiki/" Have I encountered a real bug ? If the answer is yes, I hope you'll help me solve my problem. Else, I'm sorry to have waste your time. Boris --
I've found that the MediaWiki: message page initialization step is *really slow* on my Mac (Tiger, MySQL 4.1 installed from mysql.com packages). But at least on my configuration it doesn't time out; it keeps going for a few minutes until it completes successfully.
I'm getting the same thing with MediaWiki 1.4.7, mysql-standard-4.1.13, php-4.4.0, SunONE Web Server 6.1 SP 2, Solaris 9. ~~~~
Are you using HTTPS? (SSL?) If so, check this out: <a href="http://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1573">http://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1573</a>
This shouldn't happen on new installations from 1.9 on, since the large bulk message import is no longer performed. Resolving FIXED.
