Description Platonides 2010-07-06 14:44:57 UTC
Uploading to commons, the license field is ignored.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Go to http://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?title=Special:Upload&uploadformstyle=basic
2. Provide a source file, fill the Description, Source and Author fields in the information template.
3. Choose a license in the licensing dropdown

Not using firefogg, javascript enabled.

(note that the form javascript won't allow you to submit without steps 2 & 3)

4. Press submit.

Results:
-An almost unreadable overlay is shown saying that it was correctly uploaded. It looks like a freezed page.
-The page has a long scroll at the bottom with nothing that apparently warrants it.
-The file can be seen uploaded, with the given description, but it doesn't shown the chosen license (the license field was ignored).

Marking as major since licenses are fundamental piece of commons.

This sounds like the mwEmbed gadget. Do you have that enabled ?
Comment 2 Platonides 2010-07-06 19:44:40 UTC
Yes, it is enabled and could be the cause, alone or related to other commons javascript.
Comment 3 Derk-Jan Hartman 2010-10-17 21:18:03 UTC
Do you still have this issue ?
Comment 4 Nemo 2012-08-23 17:52:30 UTC
Isn't mwEmbed deprecated now?
Comment 5 Derk-Jan Hartman 2012-08-27 11:25:19 UTC
Yeah it seems pretty dead. I doubt we will ever see Extension:Add Media Wizard deployed (and if we do, it will need a pretty substantial rewrite).
