Description Carl Fürstenberg 2010-07-01 16:38:54 UTC
The number of revision in mediawiki code base is rather high, and SVN has trouble to handle it in a deecent time (takes me 5-10 minutes to do an svn up).

I would rather see a switch to GIT, which I think is a much better choice for a project of this size.

That sounds like a personal problem. I can svn up all of my various checked out branches in about a minute.

We've been playing around with Git, but there are no firm plans to jump ship yet. The consensus in Berlin was to keep playing with it, and we'll revisit the issue sometime next year.

So if one want to comment on this, he must go to Berlin?

Yes, of course

Is Volcano interruptus mandatory?

Something comparable at least. The most certain way to accomplish this seems to be to do that winter dev meetup in DC we've been talking about and hope for a blizzard.
