Description GK 2010-05-21 00:19:15 UTC
The more categories and subcategories we are adding to the entries the more problematic the current system looks. I think that a shape up in the categories is necessary.

Let's assume that category A has 3 sub categories A1, A2 and A3 and these have each from two subcategories A11, A12, A21, A22, A31 and A32

1. There is no option to expand category A, so that it shows all entries within its subcategories which makes us want to add all categories and subcategories to the category list.

2. It would be a great help, if, by adding an entry to subcategory A32, it would also actively acquire all other categories above.

3. It would also greatly facilitate us if whenever we added an entry to a category, we would also be informed of the existence of further subcategories.

4. This should also be obvious in the category list of the entries. Instead of listing 12 different categories, something should be done to list less and yet be informed of the existence of the subcategories. Maybe we could call some categories "key" and list them, but still have some button to see all categories or maybe they could become visible when the pointer is placed over the "key" category. There are entries with a tree of maybe 15 categories. If nr.1, 6 and 12 were determined "key" we would only need to add then to cat. 15 and then 1,6 and 12 would be visible in the category list...

5. Some tool should also be made to help us better organize all this chaos...

I hope that something will be done to better organize categories as simple users.

6. And we should not forget about cross-tree categories, like A and B both having AB as a subcategory without being the one relevant to each other...
