We know how much people don't like ViewVC, and seemingly it's worse after the last upgrade

Seems to have been fine for me recently. And not sure what you mean by "don't like."

Why is WebSVN better?

Reedy was referring to the speed/cache issue that occurred when it was updated that time.

No real need to -> WONTFIX.

Especially since bug 22596 has been reopened.
