Description Thor Malmjursson 2010-02-10 23:30:36 UTC
Hi. I'm reporting this as minor, cause it's nothing that breaks things. The javascript edit warning, about leaving a page with unsaved edits, is both defaulting to on, when it should be the user's choice to enable it, not their guess as to why it's there, and where to switch it off; and also appearing in skins other than Vector.

I'm running Chick here, as it's a cellphone running Symbian OS Series 60 version 3, and it's the lightest viable skin for me.

I'm now getting the warning every time i nav away, and my system won't dismiss it. I had to ask in the IRC tech channel how to switch it off.

Please default it to off, and try and find out why it's turning up outside of the usability scheme. Thanks!

Its defaulting to on is intentional, but it's only supposed to actually do anything in Vector. I'll poke at this in a few hours.

I assume it's switching on by intention is because anyone using Vector is getting everything in the usability interface by default, Roan? After all, it's there for usability purposes, so that would seem like the intention.

As for it turning up in other skins, as you've said you'll have a poke at it, i'll pass this onto you too. I tried it in another skin today, Monobook, and it's also turning up in there when switched on too.

I don't know whether it's simply my browser being a bit goofy, or what, but i figure it's wise to let you know. Incidentally, the browser I'm accessing Wiki(pedia and news) through, is Skyfire (www.skyfire.com) version 1.150.15409. Its a secure browser, port 443 via proxy.

Hope this helps.

I can't reproduce this.

I changed my skin to Chick, made sure the EditWarning preference was on for me, edited a page, modified it and navigated away. I got no edit warning, and I didn't see EditWarning.js or Vector.combined.min.js as loaded scripts in the Firebug scripts panel.

Me neither. Fixed in the meantime?
