Description Ben Simmons 2010-02-01 20:12:35 UTC
For example, [[File:ThisFile.doc|This is a document file]] will be displayed on the page as "File:ThisFile.doc" instead of "This is a document file".

This same problem does not occur when using the Media: namespace. This is a problem because if I want to link to the file info page without using just the filename, I cannot do so. Media: only opens the file.

This seems to affect all versions. Any workarounds would be helpful as well.

Note to original poster, to do what you want to do, the syntax is

[[:file:ThisFile.doc|This is a document file]]

(note leading colon). The leading colon is necessary regardless of if the file exists or not.

cheers.
