in en.wiki, if you go to the "October 9" article and look at the article
history, you will find a recent edit by User:Missy Filan (05:31, 22 May 2005).
if you go to that user's userpage and then click on "user contributions", it is
empty. but from my watchlist, i know the user has made at least 3 other edits:
to articles "May 28", "April 29", "July 5" (all around the same time as the
"October 9" article).

two users had the same username, renamed the unused account. 
  
this probably shouldn't be able to happen.. brion?

The user table does not have a unique index on usernames, which is really bad. There are 
thus a number of dupe accounts, probably created during heavy stress periods due to race 
conditions.

That needs to be fixed.

Updater to sort out edits and update the index checked in to CVS HEAD for 
1.5. I've also run it on the Wikimedia sites to get that over with.
