I mean a standalone interwiki prefix followed by a colon.

The problem is:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/commons: cannot do a redirect
but http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/commons:Main_Page can

Http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/:commons: works

I don't think it is mend the let commons: forward to Commons.
