On the Thai wikipedia, pages in the namespace วิกิพีเดีย (the Thai spelling of Wikipedia) show in the New Pages list, and probably are also included in the article count.
Your problem is that you can't just invent namespaces (just putting ":" in the name is not enough), you have to actually translate them, all these วิกิพีเดีย: pages are actually in the main namespace.
so, how to "actually translate" it ? does it in http://th.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Allmessages ? thanks :)
LanguageTh.php has some but not all namespaces translated, they cannot be translated using Special:Allmessages

Have you asked for example the Thai language project communities that these are the correct translations. Changing namespaces is a messy process and we would like get them right at the first time. Also, you are not supposed to remove $wgMetanamespace. If that is not possible, because it has to change too, report back so we can do it properly.

I forget that Wikipedia project name is still in English, it is also requested for translation. Wikipedia = 'วิกิพีเดีย'

We are still looking forward to this issue. Do we have to wait for the new namespace manager developing in branch 1.6?
Lot's of existing links would probably stop working with that patch.
