Description Karun 2010-01-02 20:41:58 UTC
In the messages files we have some duplicate messages
being:

 'login'                      => 'Log in',
 'nav-login-createaccount'    => 'Log in / create account',
 'userlogin' => 'Log in / create account',
 'userloginnocreate'          => 'Log in',

It is possible that one pair of these could be removed. I do not know what files use them and where.

Not so fast, these messages could be different in other locales, see http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/User:MaxSem/21997 for example (click on language codes).

Yes that is possible. I have created this bug should it be necessary to remove duplicate messages, and if it is possible to.
Comment 3 Karun 2010-01-02 21:04:59 UTC
Looks like in some locales the messages a different. So it is not something that can be changed.
Comment 4 Bryan Tong Minh 2010-01-02 21:05:38 UTC
We should not use the same message in different places imho. (For example in the heading and on a button)
Comment 5 Siebrand Mazeland 2010-01-02 21:22:48 UTC
Duplication in L10n is a good thing. Not a bug/won't fix is the correct resolution.
