Description Diaa 2009-12-24 22:56:56 UTC
After revision 60375 http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Special:Code/MediaWiki/60375 there is no more default subtitle, but the user has to click through "Choose Text" and click the wanted language. I tried this also with the German interface and it doesn't default on "de" for example in http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Krazy_Kat_Bugolist_1916_silent.ogv and btw, the texts "Choose Text" "Layout" "Search Clip" and "Add timed text" aren't translated on that interface but have names like "<mwe-chose-text>" so how does this get translated or fixed? All the stuff in Menu is well translated and Close is written correctly too...
Comment 1 Michael Dale 2009-12-24 23:17:25 UTC
Using the gadget it appears to work for me with default subtitle when the subtitle is available in the interface language.

What should be the default behavior if your user language is not available? ( default to English , then default to first available ? )

"<mwe-chose-text>" are fresh interface msgs that need to be translated on translatewiki. I don't think they added the new js2-work branch path to their translation checkouts? ... Simetrical would it be hard to add the new path for mwEmbed.i18n.php [1] to the translatewiki system scripts ( While Tim finishes up his release branching efforts? )

1] /branches/js2-work/phase3/js/mwEmbed/mwEmbed.i18n.php

I mean Siebrand for the translatewiki stuff ( sorry Simetrical )

The issue of default subtitles is still apparent here. Please try it out in a video you didn't play before... Somehow all radio buttons of the languages are empty... I repeatedly cleared cache.... (Firefox 3.5)

Not adding branch work to twn. Will be added again once it gets in trunk.

Using TimedMediaHandler nowadays, I see default subtitles in English when going to http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Citing_sources_tutorial,_part_1.ogv or http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Boomer_fires_at_Apogee_Stadium.ogv - Firefox 16.0.2 on Fedora 16.

Diaa: If you still see issues, please provide a URL and browser and version information.
