Description Owen Mehegan 2009-11-24 23:46:57 UTC
According to http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Help:List#Specifying_a_starting_value I should be able to define the starting value for a numbered list like this:

#<li value=10>Saint Petersburg
#Petrograd
#Leningrad

Instead of rendering like this, though:

10. Saint Petersburg
11. Petrograd
12. Leningrad

In MediaWiki 1.15.1 it renders like this:

1.
10. Saint Petersburg
11. Petrograd
12. Leningrad

This syntax is not supported, and just "appears" to work, but only when Html Tidy is enabled. I removed that example, remember that these help pages are not "official" and might be edited by anyone (this was added in http://meta.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?title=Help:List&diff=1342633&oldid=1239421). A way to specify the start value is already asked in bug 4281.
