Instead of (or preferably as well as) having a link to help on search from the search results page, how about a help button on the search box itself (for example, next to the word "search", or under the Go and Search buttons).

We've been thinking of placing the help link like for [[Special:Contributions]] (with span id "coordinates"). We'd need a mediawiki page similar to [[MediaWiki:Sp-contributions-explain]] to specify the link.

Also add a div id for the new mediawiki page (so we can hide it).
