Description Andre Engels 2005-05-05 15:19:52 UTC
When I click the "edit this file using an external applocation" option on
http://test.leuksman.com, I get a text editor with some data about the image on
it. I don't think that's the intention... Extra data: Using Firefox 1.0.1 under
Windows XP; Firefox calls the text editor in this case "php_auto_file"

An example of what I got for one image:

[Process]
Type=Edit file
Engine=MediaWiki
Script=http://test.leuksman.com/index.php
Server=http://test.leuksman.com
Path=
Special namespace=Special

[File]
Extension=jpg
URL=http://test.leuksman.com/images/0/0e/Jolene_blalock_20.jpg

Have you followed the instructions in

http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Help:External_editors

and

http://cvs.sourceforge.net/viewcvs.py/*checkout*/wikipedia/extensions/ee/INSTALL

to associate the MIME type "application/x-external-editor" with the Perl helper
application which launches the external editor and saves the data back to the
server?

Comment 3 Andre Engels 2005-05-05 16:06:20 UTC
No, I did not... I am wondering how I should have known where to find it.
Comment 4 Erik Moeller 2005-05-05 16:09:43 UTC
Below the edit link, there should be the text "See the setup instructions for
more information", which points to the page on Meta.
Comment 5 Andre Engels 2005-05-05 17:04:09 UTC
Hmmm... Somehow it was not clear to me at first glance that that line was
related to the previous one...
Comment 6 Robin Green 2007-06-08 21:55:28 UTC
I think this is a usability bug.
Comment 7 Chad H. 2008-11-18 19:57:33 UTC
Did a bit of UI cleanup to make this more clear in r43683
