I cannot stand the new Wikimedia Commons file upload form, since I usually have some material already prepared, but checkboxes in preferences allowed me to avoid it. However, the new file upload form suddenly has become my default again, and when I go into preferences, go to the editing tab, and untick the boxes for: * Use new upload form logic * Use new form layout And hit save - they ''immediately retick themselves afterwards''. There is no way to untick the checkboxes and have it stick. This is incredibly annoying, as you can imagine, and also completely ruins the point of having preference if you cannot, in fact, change them.
This is a JavaScript added by Commons administrators called JSconfig. This is not a MediaWiki bug, please contact the author (Dschwen apparently) directly.
Remember you always have at Special:Upload "If you already have an {{information}} template or similar template ready to copy/paste, use the basic upload form. " with "basic upload form" pointing to http://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?title=Special:Upload&uploadformstyle=basic
Confirmed the issue with those checkboxes. However, "Use the old-style upload form layout." in the Gadgets tab do work.
