The Wikimedia blog skin seems really thin (or I could just have a big monitor). It's currently set at 71em, this could be changed to something like 100% which would scale with the browser size to fill in the left over blank space.

This would be a simple one liner change to the skins css file in the globalwrapper section.

Really long lines of text are much harder to read, so I wouldn't generally recommend trying to widen it out.
