In each of the messages: MediaWiki:revreview-basic-i MediaWiki:revreview-newest-basic-i MediaWiki:revreview-newest-quality-i MediaWiki:revreview-quality-i there are references being made to - a template, several template, or no template at all, - a file, several files, or none, about which we only know that their total number is not zero. This is extremely had to translate to language where you cannot use unspecific wordings, especially when wrapped into a somewhat complicated sentences, as in these instances. Since you likely do have the sum, or two individual figures, in order to decide that the total is not zero, may I suggest to put whatever information there is available in additional parameters for those messages? Using them should be marked as optional for those languages that really to not need them, of course.
The actual number is not kept and I don't really want to change anything to do so since the sync status is already on of the more cpu expensive code areas.
Well, there is at least a boolean keeping track of the fact that there are any such changes at all. How about making it an integer? It is zero or nonzero for all uses, and it can be fed to the message. Even if it is not precise (say, you use a LIMIT clause so as to keep query cost low), a distinction between one, or more, would already be of great help.
