The error 404 page on the Wikimedia UK wiki says "A project of the Wikimedia foundation." at the bottom of it, e.g. see http://uk.wikimedia.org/Main_Page . Could this be removed? It's not appropriate for the UK chapter wiki, which doesn't really count as a project of the WMF. Thanks in advance.
It's running on Wikimedia Foundation servers, so sounds pretty accurate to me. :) Note bug 17316 recommending a nice redo of the 404 page entirely as well. Existing language is pretty crappy and will go away soonish...
Brion, the next step from that is saying "Wikimedia UK is a project of the Wikimedia Foundation", which is completely and utterly wrong, and could lead to some very unfortunate misunderstandings. Is there an eta on bug 17316? I note that it still won't solve this issue.
It is a *site* *hosted* by the WMF. The *project* is WMUK, not a website, and is independent of the foundation. Check with Mike Godwin, he is usually quite keen to emphasise the independence (and, importantly, the perception of independence) of chapters.
Updating URL example to something that actually shows a 404 error. Deassigning from Rob as this isn't ready to implement, but apparently has general questions about what, if anything, is required.
Marking blocking on bug 17316 404 page redo (eg keep in mind generalizing the new 404 page text)
Editing PHP files is hard. https://git.wikimedia.org/blob/operations%2Fmediawiki-config.git/7e6de7255d6d0c6f6e515b1ea4ee9fad17c2bc0c/w%2F404.php
Kind of a moot point now that WMUK has moved to its own hosting. I'm closing this as a WONTFIX, but naturally, anyone may reopen it if needed
