Description pgrawehr 2009-05-04 20:18:17 UTC
For several Database links, this extension would solve lots of POV and/or advertisement problems. The extension would allow us to have our own special page that let's the user select the web site for a specific data source (similar to the existing ISBN-Search page), without the need of the tool server. Such a special page is often required in cases, where for NPOV reasons, the user should be allowed to choose himself, which service he wants to use for a specific search (ISIN-Numbers, Geographic maps, but on dewiki also things like bible citation sites). Currently, such links need to favor one specific service or need to go through the tool server (klick i.e the ISIN in the infobox on http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/UBS). This is a very inflexible solution.

Where is the on-wiki discussion that produced a consensus to enable this extension? Site requests should only be posted when there is a clear consensus within a wiki community that the change is desirable.

Bug filed over 3 years again and dead since. Extension has not been reviewed for deployment on Wikimedia sites and there is no apparent consensus for this extension to be enabled on dewiki. RESOLVED INVALID.
