Selecting pages through a category does not work for namespaces without semantics, I think it should be only without semantics and not without categories
Yeah, I can see your point here. But doing as you suggest would break some existing queries, since it would make Templates appear in results where they would not appear right now. If one wants this behavior, one can simply make more namespaces semantic. Thus, since there is a viable solution to avoid the problem that you mention, and since the alternative would introduce a different behavior that could be argued to be a regression, I close this enhancement request without action.
