People watch articles for a variety of reasons: - General interest in the article, to be alerted of changes. - A desire to revisit an article later. - Noting that an article contains an error, but no time to fix it now. - Noting that an article is unfinished, and needs to be checked later for completeness. - etc. Please add a watchlist feature that tags a watchlist entry with a REASON why you are watching the article. Then modify Special:Watchlist to group and/or sort pages by their reasons. Reasons could be specified by administrators in a system message, just like MediaWiki:Deletereason-dropdown. The default reason would be null. Reasons would be optional. As an administrator, I would find this feature extremely valuable when patrolling articles. Sometimes I don't want to mark a revision as patrolled yet, but I want to come back to this article later. If I just "watch" it, I can't distinguish later between my "general interest" articles and my "come back later" articles in my watchlist.
