Description René Kijewski 2009-03-25 19:39:43 UTC
Often it would be very usefull, if there would be a {{strlen}} function. Some Wikipedias (e.g. en and de) alrealy abuse padleft (since it uses mb_strlen) and switch therefore.

This has been fixed by merging StringFunctions into ParserFunctions.
Then length of a string can be determined with the {{#len:string}} parser function.

May I re-open this feature request?
The "solution" is cleary none, as there is not the slightest possiblitity, that the (bloated) StringFunctions will ever be enabled on the WikiMedia projects.
I'd suggest to have at least an option to enable the "lighter" functions.
Comment 3 Alex Z. 2009-07-21 02:58:37 UTC
Given the resistance toward an extension, I don't think there's any chance of this being added to core soon.
Comment 4 Chad H. 2009-07-28 23:00:50 UTC
Marking WONTFIX. This won't be going in to core. It's in StringFunctions/ParserFunctions. Cleanup to that to make it suitable for WMF is a different bug, not this one.
