Hello. I just want to put a suggestion on your table. It concerns the article protection levels. At present we can effectively control article editing rights on three levels: (1) just everybody, (2) registered users without newbies only (3) sysops only. Since I work as a sysop, I thought something was missing here. The level (2) is vulnerable to users that would register (even with multiple accounts) and wait for three days to continue pushing their POV or whatever. On the other side, the level (3) is way too restricting, because it prevents regular users to make edits on an article. There seem to be just fine solution to this, as introducing a new level of protection: autopatrolled users only. I don't know on how many Wikis we have patrollers and autopatrolled users, but I guess Wikis will tend to have them in the future. All the same, I think there is sense in allowing sysops to restrict editing of some articles only to these trusted users. The main advantage of this protection level would be that exactly the trusted users won't be disturbed at all by most of page locks. Thanks for reading.
Customized protection levels can be set using the $wgRestrictionLevels variable (http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Manual:$wgRestrictionLevels) in LocalSettings.php.
