I checked this on my german an japanese wiki installations:
There is no property "Modification date" for any article. So it can not be used in inline queries, which would be useful in some cases. The english installation does have this (special) property, which is how I noticed the lack of it in the other installations in the first place.

Indeed, most languages were missing the English alias. Fixed in SVN.
