Description Piolinfax 2009-02-18 01:02:38 UTC
Hi. In [http://wa.wikipedia.org wa.wiki Wikipedia in Walon] there is a Walon dictionary embedded with several thousand pages: [[w:wa:Wikipedia:Pordjet_Motî]] is the portal to it and the lemmata are in the namespace '''Motî:''', which is not a real namespace but just a prefix. Now they want to tranfer those lemmata to wa.wikt. Could somebody transfer those pages to http://wa.wiktionary.org (preferably without the '''Motî:''' bit)? Thanks. Regards,

I couldn't figure out which script does this, but JeLuF used it for 12659, so I've added to CC & they can either do it or at least let us know.

I'm not sure the prefix can be removed, but then movePages.php can be used to mass-move the pages, I think.

Couldn't this be done per XML/transwiki-import,
like it's done when wikis got created?
Comment 3 Brion Vibber 2009-05-28 18:51:58 UTC
This can be done by bulk import/export...
Comment 4 Rob Halsell 2009-06-23 20:37:56 UTC
Done via the dumpBackup:

php maintenance/dumpBackup.php --wiki=wawiki --full --pagelist=/root/rob_pagelist > /root/rob_moti.xhtml
I am currently running the importDump process, which may take awhile to complete.

When it completes, I will update this ticket.

Please note the prefix will NOT be removed due to potential page conflict issues and edit histories.

The update is still pending. It may take quite awhile longer.
Comment 6 Rob Halsell 2009-06-24 00:18:00 UTC
The import has completed and recentchanges has been updated. All the pages are now there, but with the prefix.

Comment 7 Rob Halsell 2009-06-24 00:20:26 UTC
I should not have closed that ;]

As soon as I did, I realized I have a tool in the shell for moving/renaming pages so I can remove the Motî prefix MUCH easier than you guys can.

I need to stop working for the evening, but I will work on this first thing tomorrow.

I have gone ahead and run the moveBatch.php on the Motî imported pages, removing the Motî prefix and leaving them with just the normal page names. It is currently running, but should complete in about 20 minutes.

Any pages that already existed would have failed the move, and still exist with the Motî prefix. You can easily track those rogue pages down with the special:allpages for reference. Again, you will not want to start cleaning these up for another 20 minutes or so.

This should complete everything you guys needed. If there are any questions or concerns, please let me know! As soon as the move completes, I will close out this ticket.
Comment 9 Rob Halsell 2009-06-24 19:04:23 UTC
Moves have completed.
