on     MediaWiki: 1.4rc1 
       PHP: 5.0.3 (apache2handler) 
       MySQL: 4.1.10

installed on Windows XP, the Logs don't work; the displayed message is

Database error
Internal error

this problem does not exist on Unix based installation with the same versions of
the software (MediaWiki, PHP & MySQL)

This is a problem with MySQL 4.1 and the 1.4 beta releases.

Upgrade to 1.4.0 and run the update script to fix the logging table (see RELEASE-NOTES and UPGRADE).
