If you save a page, realise immediately that you made a mistake, hit the back button in your browser, make the change and hit save again, it usually works. However, if you try it on a discussion page, where you've signed your name, you'll always get an edit conflict when trying to re-save. The diff that shows the changes between your version and the stored version, however, shows only MediaWiki's expansion of '~~~~' into your signature. Since you don't normally conflict with your own edits, I can only assume the conflict is with the signature expansion, I'm not sure, but either way it would be nice if this didn't happen.

I'm not sure it's worth touching things like how pre-save transforms are treated and so, although it may make sense: the problem here is rather that the self-conflict should have been suppressed, IMHO. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 26821 ***
