Description lucas.nunes 2009-01-30 23:39:00 UTC
Hello.

If someone create an account A on a wiki, and after create an account B on same wiki, of course, without renaming, this person stay with two different accounts there.

The idea is implement a mechanism to merge these accounts, where the user would choose one of the usernames to be the "main", and the contributions would be stay together. In part, this is like Special:Renameuser.

Certainly, the user have to prove that owns the two accounts and after this, he or she will login with the username chosen to be the "main", as well the user, user talk and history pages will show the content of the main account.

Preferably, the user and talk page of the other username should be deleted, because it'll be impracticable to merge.

I hope this will be implemented and will help a lot of people.
Thanks.

WORKSFORME. There's an extension (http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:User_Merge_and_Delete) that does this. Also, there's a maintenance script (attribute.php) that can be used for edit attribution, if someone wanted to manually merge two users.
