Hi everyone, per community consensus on http://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?oldid=17568221#Request_to_change_the_default_in_My_preferences.2Fwatchlist please activate the "Add pages I create to my watchlist" option per default for new users on Wikimedia Commons.

From what I understand, this could be accomplished by putting $wgDefaultUserOptions['watchcreations'] = 1; in the config file.
