When editing the user signature in preferences, it would be most useful if a preview of what it will put on a page was provided - taking into account if raw signatures are selected. Since the signature varies depending on the number of ~ characters used, a list of the most common and the resulting signature would be the best way to illustrate this. Should space constraints limit what can be displayed, showing the most common "~~~~" and how it will display could have a tooltip with the others when you pass the mouse over it.

On Preferences please also mention what the signature is for. One thinks it may be for appending to email one sends to other users. When in fact is has to do with "~~~~". So please say so.

Little enhancements like this make editing and creating an account much more enjoyable. I am thankful that trivial thing was fixed perhaps once a week. I wonder if many little changes like this would have a huge impact on how often and how long people use their favorite MW installation.
