Look at the numbered bullet points under "Lou's notes on the next paragraphs --" Notice that #2 is missing. I can't see any reason why it should be missing. Further, when I alter the end of the line numbered 1 (...what is going on here.) in various ways, #2 seems to randomly jump in and out. I think it has to do with the characters at or near the end of the line numbered 1 (the apostrophes and the closing parenthesis), but I haven't been able to pin it down. Feel free to edit the section or do whatever else will help you (hopefully) see this problem and fix it. Lou Sander Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania USA
1, 2, 3, 4... looks fine. If problem is continuing, please create a separate, minimal page, and attach a screenshot on this bug showing exactly what you're seeing. Include details of your browser, in case it's an issue with different rendering there.

I can confirm in IE 7, Windows XP SP 3. Darned odd. :)
The list is intermittently getting an extra, hidden list item thrown in between the first and second items: <li style="list-style: none"></li> On IE7 this adds a visible blank line; on IE7 and Firefox both it causes the next item to be numbered 3 instead of 2. This may be a funky interaction with HTML Tidy; the variance appears to be based on whether the server is running the old Fedora systems or the newer Ubuntu-based systems, which'll have different versions installed. The list is surrouned by an unclosed <font> tag, which Tidy replicates into the individual <li> bits since it technically can't enclose the <ol><li>...</li></ol> block elements.
Updated test case URL to isolated page.
