Description Gurch 2008-12-03 21:11:29 UTC
When trying to view old versions of some images, I get "Forbidden. Your client is not allowed to access the requested object."

An example:

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/archive/b/bc/20080515203003!Wiki.png

an old version of http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Wiki.png

All but one of the other older versions of that image also fails.

These are due to the same image-destroying bug that has been previously discussed.
Comment 2 Gurch 2008-12-03 22:12:11 UTC
Ah, sorry(In reply to comment #1)

Ah, sorry, must have missed that. This is a duplicate then?
Comment 3 Brion Vibber 2008-12-03 22:13:48 UTC
Probably, but we should ensure that at least is kept around since we need to do some cleanup and see what can be recovered. :)

[Detail: the '403 Forbidden' error comes from the image file having been replaced with an empty subdirectory; directory indexes are not allowed to be shown on this server, so you get a 'Forbidden' rather than an empty display or a '404 Not found']

This problem still exists (e.g. for the example given in the report) but is not happening to new files. Looks like at this point the old cases aren't going to be fixed.
