Description David Multer 2008-12-01 18:06:09 UTC
I just upgraded my database to MySQL 5.1.30 and now I get warnings for every MediaWiki page access in /var/log/mysqld.log file. Here's the warning message:

081201 9:56:37 [Warning] Statement is not safe to log in statement format. Statement: UPDATE /* SiteStatsUpdate::doUpdate Dmulter */ `site_stats` SET ss_total_views=ss_total_views+1 LIMIT 1

It appears to be an update performed as part of computing the "This page has been accessed XXX times" message in the footer.

As an aside, I also had to rebuild my searchindex table as I was getting errors after the update for that as well.

I'm guessing the 5.1.x series introduced some issues with MediaWiki. I was running MySQL 5.0.67 before the upgrade. I'm running the latest MediaWiki 1.13.2 release.

I have the same warnings since MySQL 5.1.29 at least. Would be nice with some response from the developers so we know if we should file a support ticket with MySQL instead.

Not even an acknowledgement for almost four months. Are we reporting this issue wrongly somehow?
Comment 3 Chad H. 2009-06-17 13:57:17 UTC
I cannot replicate in 5.1.33.
Comment 4 David Multer 2009-06-17 14:49:54 UTC
I continued to see the problem appear through MySQL 5.1.35, but it appears to have been fixed in MediaWiki 1.15.0. I'll let someone official verify that the problem is fixed and mark this bug as resolved. Anyone else (pp) should confirm if 1.15.0 fixed their problem.
Comment 5 pp 2009-06-17 17:08:14 UTC
I can't see it any more either, using MediaWiki 1.13.5 and MySQL 5.1.35.
