The 2 approved sound formats on Wikipedia are .wav and .ogg. Attempting to upload WAV files now fails, generating a warning message: ".wav" is not a recognised image file format. So WAV files can no longer be uploaded. OGG files still work.

OGG files still work. There might be some other checking done. Have you checked that it really is in WAV format? Have you checked it for viruses?

OGG files still work. 'Upload warning ".wav" is not a recommended image file format.'

OGG files still work. I'VE FOUND THE PROBLEM: "Note: Currently Wikipedia has been configured to only allow uploading of Ogg Vorbis (.ogg) files. Previously uploaded files of different formats will still work, but only Ogg files can be uploaded. See: talk" ([[Wikipedia:Wikipedia:Sound]])
