I have frequently edited Wikipedia pages dealing with prehistoric organisms. Because they are often resconstructed from scanty material the same organism often ends up being given multiple names. Only the first name is used, however, and the unused junior synonyms are often given pages that redirect to the valid one. A good idea, but it can be confusing to constantly be clicking links and to find oneself on articles with titles and contents completely different than what is indicated by the linked text. So, I thought it might be beneficial for the project if links to redirects were slightly different in color than regular links to pages to alert the user to the fact that when they click the links they will not end up in the destination they think they will. Piped links probably don't need the color because they are usually helpful in indicating to what destination the reader is headed and are usually not confusing. A minor thing, perhaps, but I think personally that it would be helpful to alter the colors of links to redirects.
I don't think this is a good idea. Imagine this: A user creates an article, it gets linked around the wiki. Someone moves it to a new title. All the pages with links are now going to have a different color link, for the same article. If you really need this, use the following CSS code: a.mw-redirect { color: #000000; }
Closing as WFM, as the mw-redirect class allows users to customize redirect links as they'd like. I couldn't see this getting changed in core, however.
