When overwriting moved images, multiple duplicate entries appear in the file history. There is also a problem with the file history thumbnails being updated. Steps to reproduce: 1) Upload an image. 2) Move the image to somewhere else. 3) Upload another image on top of the moved image. Test cases: 1) testwiki:Image:Blah2.png 2) testwiki:Image:TestImage2.png Expected results versus actual: *There should be only two entries in the file history. One test case had 3 duplicate entries, the other 2. *The thumbnail for the most recent version should match the actual version of the image. Instead it is stuck on the old version, but beside the reason for the new upload. *In the second test case, the image displayed does not match the thumbnail produced with . Purging the server cache doesn't do anything.
Reproduced using image reverting at testwiki:Image:Missingsearch2.png. There are three copies of the reverted image in the upload history. The relevant log entries: 15:37, 25 October 2008 MER-C (Talk | contribs) uploaded "Image:Missingsearch.png" (Testing file rename (again).) 15:39, 25 October 2008 MER-C (Talk | contribs) uploaded a new version of "Image:Missingsearch.png" (But this time, with more than one file in the upload history.) 15:39, 25 October 2008 MER-C (Talk | contribs) Image:Missingsearch.png moved to Image:Missingsearch2.png (try this) (revert) 15:40, 25 October 2008 MER-C (Talk | contribs) uploaded a new version of "Image:Missingsearch2.png" (Reverted to version as of 07:37, 25 October 2008)
I found the same problem with w:de:Bild:Marcus_und_Jule.JPG which has NOT been moved. I just uploaded a new version.
This seems to be Wikimedia-specific bug, related to the image history display.
Fixed in r45138
I think he meant r45183.
