Description danielspencer2 2008-09-11 03:09:36 UTC
Mediawiki should have an option for people to embed a snippet of a 'famous' article into external websites similar to what myspace and youtube do for videos where people can embed videos into their website by copy and pasting the html code that is provided.
By 'famous' articles I mean articles about Singers,Actors,Comedians,Tv hosts,Bands,Models, and more. When an article is created there should be an option to choose whether the article can be embedded or not.
How it works is it allows people to embed articles on their website. The embedded article will display the url, it will display the first few sentences of the article, along with the main photo of the article, a logo of the wiki site, and a 'click here to read more' link.
So every article that has embed enabled should have a button saying "add this to your website" and when users click on it some html code will be displayed. Users then copy and paste this code into their website.
The embedded article on an external website should be displayed like a Button and be the size of about 410x530 pixels. The first few sentences could be displayed at the top, followed by the main photo, then the wiki site's logo, then the 'click here to read more' link. The main photo would have to be scaled down so it doesn't take up too much space and the text size may have to be a smaller font size too.
The embedded article button should automatically update the first few sentences of an article, main photo, and logo every hour in case the article's text changes.
