At various help desks across Wikipedia, users often inquire about an "email this article" feature. (For example, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Help_desk/Archives/2007_November_13 ; http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Reference_desk/Archives/Miscellaneous/2006_December_26 ; http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Wikipedia:Media_copyright_questions&oldid=234390679) Though obviously the same result can be achieved through copying and pasting article text or a URL, many users don't seem to be aware of this. (They also expect an email button to exist, because it is so common on news sites.) Wikipedia's reach could be expanded significantly if users were able to email their friends with a single click.

This could be too easily abused for mass-spamming, so we have no plans to implement it.
