Currently any user can edit any other users replies, it would be desirable to be able to prevent this on either a reply by reply basis, site wide, or only for a particular thread.  Perhaps protection-like so sysops can change them, but normal users cannot.  A warning message above the edit box when doing this would also be nice, even if not protected.

Why will this not be fixed, I can imagine a scenario where this may be desired; most regular forum software offers this capability.

It's a wiki, we already warn when a comment has been edited, and I think this is feature creep.
