Description spacebirdy 2008-06-09 11:54:17 UTC
Dear all,

we got several reports on Meta about a new bug:
http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Help_talk:Unified_login#SUL_attempt_failures (everything below)

The problem seems to be:

* if an user tries to get to merge his accounts he gets a "wrong password" failure and can't merge
(the first password querry does not work)
but
* if that user creates a new account he can merge from there
* the home wiki is then set to the newer account

This seem to happen after bug 14330 got fixed,
all passwords set before that bugfix are not recognized by Special:MergeAccount anymore.

Also the homewiki is totally mixed up.

Many thanks in advance for Your help,
Elisabeth Anderl [[:wikt:is:Notandi:Spacebirdy]]

It seems not to work only on accounts created before new password format was introduced.

Should be fixed after r36150, and I truncated globalnames and localnames. Please confirm.

works for me, thanks a lot!
